Popular instant messaging app WhatsApp has stopped working in older smartphones.
Anyone using a smartphone running Android 2.2 Froyo or older versions of Android, apart from an iPhone 3GS or iOS 6 and lower versions of iOS, will find that WhatsApp has stopped working on their smartphones. Notably, the market share of these devices is quite low – 0.1 percent for devices running Android 2.2 Froyo, 2.6 percent for devices running iOS 6, and the iPhone 3GS is itself a 7-year-old phone.
Windows Phone 7 users will also be affected in the same manner.
“WhatsApp is to end support for a number of operating systems including Blackberry 10, Nokia Symbian S60 and Windows Phone 7.1.
“The company said it wanted to focus development “on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use”.

It’s safe to say that if it is a Nokia then the chances are highly likely that it will no longer be supported. To check what type of a Nokia you have, simply dial *#0000# and if it matches any of the above then know that WhatsApp may be a thing of the past for you.
A bunch of Android phones; mostly the old and slow ones. To check what version of Android you have, go to Settings, System, About Phone and check the Android Version. If it reads 2.1 or 2.2 then plan for an upgrade by June 2017.
It looks like this type of phone is so old that there is nothing on the internet that speaks about it.
But if you have a ‘Lumia Mango’ or when dialing *#0000# on your Nokia phone and it has Windows 7.1 written there, be advised accordingly.
So there you have it folks, these are the types of phones that will no longer be able to access WhatsApp at the end of the June 2017.
